Book Blurb:
It’s been decades since blackmail forced Troy Callahan to retire from playing professional hockey, and he’s built a successful career behind the bench. When he’s offered the opportunity to coach the Asheville Ravens—the most hated team in the ECHL—he’s convinced that his no-nonsense attitude is just what the team needs to put their focus back on hockey. But Troy is disheartened when he finds that the Ravens have signed Shane North, a player known for his aggression—especially when Shane’s rough good looks give Troy inappropriate thoughts about a player, even if Shane’s set to retire at the end of the season.

Shane’s career in the majors never quite took off. Wanting to quit on his own terms, Shane agrees to a one-year contract with the Ravens and finds himself playing for a coach who thinks he’s an aging goon and with a team that doesn’t trust him, the coach, or each other. Despite his determination to not get involved, Shane unwillingly becomes part of the team… and is just as unwillingly drawn to the gruff, out-and-proud coach. As the Ravens struggle to build a new identity, Shane and Troy succumb to the passion that might cost them everything.

Quotes from the author about the book:
Troy and Shane’s story was a joy to write – I loved writing about two characters who were so confident in what they wanted and determined to get it no matter what. These are two stubborn, opinionated and passionate men and their interactions were so much fun to write.

Quotes from other authors about the book:
"I hope this series continues forever. I always have time for more of Avon Gale's quirky, impeccably written hockey players. Shane is the perfect smartass, and watching him fall for Troy is terrific fun." - Sarina Bowen, USA Today bestselling author of Him

I think Troy is my animal spirit. He made me feel not so bad about my own potty mouth.
He also made me want to pull out my mosaic puzzle. It's been SO long and that fucker is HARD!! lol

For those that are just noticing this series, you can jump in on this book. Yes, it's part of a series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. I do suggest going back into the others though, because, well...Avon Gale.
I'll admit, I only know about the Spitfires because I read that book, so it was pretty great to see some of those characters briefly, but I was not confused in any way.

Can we talk about Troy and Shane's hot AF banter?? Troy's deadpan, no BS humor is incredible. Shane never missed a beat either, he just goes with it and gives back what Troy dishes out. I love these guys.

I'm actually very curious about Shane's roommate Alani. I would totally read her book, if it were ever written. Female surfer sounds kind of badass.

I would also love to see some River and Ben, too. I guess I don't know if they already have a story and I may need to do some research after I write this. River is the lovely ex ballerina, now bartender/defender of youth LGBT and local bookstore/cafe/rec center owner, and his tattoo artist boyfriend, Ben.
River gets to see Shane and Troy's relationship grow as they have there not-date, date nights, at his bar.

Villainary: I KNEW something was up with Quinn, the little weasel!!! He should be right where St. Savoy is, because it almost sounds like he'll be back to do villainy things.

Warning: This is a heat level five and may melt your e-reader. That being said, there's also loads of story and a lot of humor and chemistry.

I highly recommend this series for hockey lovers and romance lovers alike.

5*

Excerpt
“I didn’t think you liked me very much, Shane.”
It was such an unCallahan thing to say, it was almost cute. “I don’t really need to like you to want you to fuck me, do I?”
Troy’s pale eyes flashed. “Goddammit.”
They stared at each other, the music a low throb in the bar, lights dancing merrily on the slick floor. “I could like you just fine,” Shane murmured and then deliberately dropped his gaze to Troy’s belt. “If you just showed a little effort, Coach.”
Shane knew the “coach” thing would piss Troy off—what didn’t?—but he had a hunch that wasn’t all it would do. He stood up very slowly and angled so they faced each other in the small space between the barstools. Troy was taller than Shane by a few inches, though leaner and lanky like a runner. They weren’t quite touching, but it reminded Shane of those games where you lined up across from a guy for the faceoff and just knew you were going to throw the gloves off as soon as the whistle blew.

All they needed was someone to blow the whistle. God.

Author Bio:

Avon Gale wrote her first story at the age of seven, about a “Space Hat” hanging on a rack and waiting for that special person to come along and purchase it — even if it was a bit weirder than the other, more normal hats. Like all of Avon’s characters, the space hat did get its happily ever after — though she’s pretty sure it was with a unicorn. She likes to think her vocabulary has improved since then, but the theme of quirky people waiting for their perfect match is still one of her favorites.
Avon grew up in the southern United States, and now lives with her very patient husband in a liberal midwestern college town. When she’s not writing, she’s either doing some kind of craft project that makes a huge mess, reading, watching horror movies, listening to music or yelling at her favorite hockey team to get it together, already. Avon is always up for a road trip, adores Kentucky bourbon, thinks nothing is as stress relieving as a good rock concert and will never say no to candy.
At one point, Avon was the mayor of both Jazzercise and Lollicup on Foursquare. This tells you basically all you need to know about her as a person.
Avon is represented by Courtney Miller-Callihan of Handspun Literary Agency.

Book Blurb:

Nick Melnikov doesn’t know where he belongs. He was just a kid when his Russian-Jewish family immigrated to Michigan. Now he’s in London for university, overwhelmed by unexpected memories. Socially anxious, intensely private, and closeted, Nick doesn’t expect to fall in so quickly with a tight-knit group of students from his college, and it’s both exhilarating and scary. Hanging out with them is a roller coaster of serious awkward and incredible longing, especially when the most intimidating of the group, Dex, looks his way.

Dex Cartwell knows exactly who he is: a black queer guy who doesn’t give a toss what anybody thinks of him. He is absolutely, one-hundred-percent, totally in control of his life. Apart, maybe, from the stress of his family’s abrupt move to an affluent, largely white town. And worrying about his younger brother feeling increasingly isolated as a result. And the persistent broken heart he’s been nursing for a while . . .

When Nick and Dex meet, both find themselves intrigued. Countless late-night conversations only sharpen their attraction. But the last thing Nick wants is to face his deepest secret, and the last thing Dex needs is another heartache. Dex has had to fight too hard for his right to be where he is. Nick isn’t even sure where he’s from. So how can either of them tell where this is going?

Quotes from the author about the book:

ABROAD is a story of struggle, love, identity, fear, family, and friendship. It's about finding your people. It's a story of how our cultures can define, constrict, and, ultimately, free us. It's a story of immigration and its fallout, of confusion and clashes and how help can come from the most unexpected places. It's the story I have always wanted to tell, ever since I was a confused, frightened immigrant kid with no recourse but to adapt to unfamiliar surroundings or sink. In many ways, while fictionalized and quite altered, this is my story.

Teaser Excerpt

No, Izzy wasn't drunk. She was happy. She'd needed this. She just felt...unbalanced. Not right. Something was niggling at her, but she couldn't catch it, not without a bigger net.
Maybe it had been that stupid fight with Dex.
Maybe it had been the talk with Nick about her course.
Maybe she was just overthinking everything, which never ended well, and anyway, she never dwelled on the bad shit. Why was she even doing it now?
Maybe that was why, when she was taking a quick rest against an empty bit of wall, catching her breath, and saw a girl appear in front of her and beckon her for a dance with a tilt of her chin, Izzy went.

"What's your name?" the girl shouted in her ear once they were bouncing up and down on the dance floor. Her breath was hot against Izzy's skin and smelled beery.

            "Izzy!"
            "What?"

"Izzy! Like Isabel, but, like. Shorter?"

The girl laughed and pulled back enough to catch Izzy's eye. "I heard you the first time, love, just having a laugh."

It should have annoyed her, and maybe it would have, had a guy done it. But somehow, it only made Izzy laugh. Flush and laugh, but luckily, she was probably pink all over from the dancing alone, so at least it wouldn't be noticeable.

"What about you, then?" she shouted.

            "I'm Ruby!"

Izzy thought that if they hadn't been shouting, Ruby's voice would have been husky. It had that edge to it. She had that edge to her, anyway. She was shorter than Izzy, just enough to probably be of a height when Izzy wasn't wearing heels. With heels on, Izzy brushed the other side of six foot, which she loved more than most people, probably. She'd once cried on her mum's shoulder that she felt like an elephant compared to all the other girls (and, what was worse, boys) in her class, and her mum had petted her head, then said, "Isabel? Great Danes don't produce chihuahuas." It had been so absurd, it had actually comforted.

She liked the way she towered over Ruby, because it didn't feel as if she should be able to. Ruby was sort of tall and lanky but had a presence about her; she felt bigger than her build. She, too, had tattoos. Seriously, was this a queer lady thing? She'd have to ask Nat later, because Nat had also already started on an arm sleeve, but Izzy had thought it was more of a Nat thing, not a lesbian thing. Ruby's left arm was covered shoulder to midway through her forearm. Vines and sea monsters and things. It was cool. She had a lip piercing, an eyebrow piercing, and short black hair in a sort of chunky haircut where the fringe periodically fell over her darkly-lined eyes. In this light, it was impossible to tell what color they were, but regardless of anything, she was easily the coolest girl Izzy'd ever met.

Author Bio:

Liz Jacobs came over with her family from Russia at the age of 11, as a Jewish refugee.  All in all, her life has gotten steadily better since that moment. They settled in an ultra-liberal haven in the middle of New York State, which sort of helped her with the whole “grappling with her sexuality” business.

She has spent a lot of her time flitting from passion project to passion project, but writing remains her constant. She has flown planes, drawn, made jewelry, had an improbable internet encounter before it was cool, and successfully wooed the love of her life in a military-style campaign. She has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize for her essay on her family’s experience with immigration.

She currently lives with her wife in Massachusetts, splitting her time between her day job, writing, and watching a veritable boatload of British murder mysteries.

COVER REVEAL: The Rhubarb Patch by Deanna Wadsworth

Title: The Rhubarb Patch
Author: Deanna Wadsworth
Genre: M/M Contemporary
Release Date: July 24, 2017
City boy, sci-fi novelist, and recovering pushover Scott Howe doesn’t know what to expect when he inherits his grandmother’s house outside the quaint village of Gilead, Ohio—but it isn’t an enormous bald man in nothing but tighty-whities and orange rubber boots shouting at him to keep his weed wacker away from the rhubarb patch.
Scott has never met anyone like Phineas Robertson: homesteader, recluse… Republican. A tender—if unlikely—friendship grows over the summer while Phin and his schnauzer, Sister Mary Katherine, teach Scott about life in the country and the grandmother he never knew. Opposites attract, but widower Phin worries his secret will send Scott running faster than his politics, and Phin isn’t convinced he deserves a second chance at romance.
Scott is convinced—rural life, and his one-of-a-kind, older neighbor, is the future he wants. Before he can settle in, his mother drops a bombshell that strains their already tenuous relationship, and a cousin who believes he is the rightful heir to the property puts Scott in danger. It’ll take a lot of compromises, and even dodging a few bullets before they’re out of the weeds, but nurturing something as special as true love always takes hard work.
Deanna Wadsworth might be a bestselling erotica author, but she leads a pretty vanilla life in Ohio with her wonderful husband and a couple adorable cocker spaniels. She has been spinning tales and penning stories since childhood, and her first erotic novella was published in 2010. She has served multiple board positions at her local RWA chapter and is the current President 2017 for Rainbow Romance Writers of America. When she isn’t writing books or brainstorming with friends, you can find her making people gorgeous in a beauty salon. She loves music and dancing, and can often be seen hanging out on the sandbar in the muddy Maumee River or chilling with her hubby and a cocktail in their basement bar. In between all that fun, Deanna cherishes the quiet times when she can let her wildly active imagination have the full run of her mind. Her fascination with people and the interworkings of their relationships have always inspired her to write romance with spice and love without boundaries.

Virtual Blog Tour & Giveaway ~ Oversight (The Community 2) by Santino Hassell

About Oversight

Holden Payne has it all . . . or so he thinks. As heir to the founder of the Community—an organization that finds, protects, and manages psychics—he’s rich, powerful, and treated like royalty. But after a series of disappearances and murders rock the Community, he’s branded the fall guy for the scandal and saddled with a babysitter.

Sixtus Rossi is a broad-shouldered, tattooed lumbersexual with a man bun and a steely gaze. He’s also an invulnerable—supposedly impervious to both psychic abilities and Holden’s charms. It’s a claim Holden takes as a challenge. Especially if sleeping with Six may help him learn whether the Community had more to do with the disappearances than they claimed.

As Holden uncovers the truth, he also finds himself getting in deep with the man sent to watch him. His plan to seduce Six for information leads to a connection so intense that some of Six’s shields come crashing down. And with that comes a frightening realization: Holden has to either stand by the Community that has given him everything, or abandon his old life to protect the people he loves.

About The Community Series

What lies beneath the surface of the world you thought you knew?

Secrets and lies have twisted an underground community founded by psychics escaping persecution. Blackmail, sex, and social climbing in the name of power has created an irreparable rift.

In the eyes of the founders, there are two sides: loyalists and everyone else. Surely no one would emerge from their tightly woven webs. And they certainly wouldn’t sow the seeds of rebellion within the heart of the Community’s only queer night club.

Now an outcast, a scion, and a runaway are leading a revolution to save not only the men they love, but the entire Community.

This book actually gets super intense, which is awesome.

Holden I never really found endearing. He was a bit pushy and a lot cocky, but I ended up feeling bad for him and he definitely redeems himself in my eyes.

Of course he couldn't have done that with out the stoic mountain of a man, Sixtus Rossi aka Six.

Everything that The Community represents is all a lie, and Holden doesn't even realize it until it's pushed into his face. He knows his father is ambitious, but not to the extent of it. Everything stems towards more cynical goings on at "The Farm". The Farm is where Six has been kept for nearly a decade. After something happens when he's young and is sent there for punishment, or "realignment", and must play nice to Holden's father. What Holden thinks he's there for is a complete lie and his father will do anything to cover up what's really going on. Including making his son a scapegoat.

This is where my sympathy comes in for Holden. He generally does care and wants a safe place for psy-kids to go. When Elijah and Chase go missing, he knows something is fishy. He believed in what The Community *should* be about, that it's hard for him to believe the conspiracy theories his friends are throwing at him. To learn that it's all a front for darker things is a real punch to the gut. Not to mention his mother and her secrets. By the end of the book it's a whole new ball game.

This is definitely my favorite story so far. The character development, the intriguing, mysterious story line, the emotions (especially considering one is pretty much incapable of them) it's all there unfolding for what I hope is a glorious follow up.

Let's talk about the end. Some might say it's a cliffy. I say it's an intense continuation ;)
I'm super excited for Chase, he's my favorite out of all the characters.

Blog Tour ~ Strong Enough by Melanie Harlow & David Romanov

Strong Enough, an all-new sexy standalone from USA Today Bestselling author Melanie Harlow and David Romanov is available now !
Strong Enough
by Melanie Harlow & David Romanov
Genre: Contemporary MM Romance
Publication Date: June 19, 2017

I wasn’t looking for Derek Wolfe.
I wasn’t looking for anybody. All I wanted was to start a new life in America. But when I found myself stranded here with no place to go, he came to my rescue, offering me a place to stay.
He’s smart, successful, and sexy as hell—I can barely sleep knowing he’s right down the hall. And when the chemistry between us explodes one night with fierce, fiery passion, it’s hard to deny there’s something real between us.
But he does.
He says he was drunk. He says it was a one-time thing. He says he’s not into guys and what we did meant nothing.
He’s lying. Because it happened again, and again, and again. And it’s better every time.
I know we could be good together, and I want the chance to try, but I’m done hiding. If he’s not strong enough to admit the truth, I’ll have to be strong enough to walk away.

Excerpt:
Figuring I’d had enough booze to blunt his effect on me, I rolled up the sleeves of my black button-down shirt and moved next to him. “I’ll help you.”
“Okay.”
I caught him trying to not to look at my wrists and forearms, and it made me smile. How does it feel to want someone and have to hide it? “You wash, I’ll dry?”
“Sounds good.”
We worked in silence, shoulder to shoulder, and I found myself increasingly—and disturbingly—pleased at the thought of him being attracted to me and being forced to conceal it. It was fucking horrible of me to take pleasure in his discomfort, but I liked being secretly wanted. Being illicitly desired. Being the object of his covert glances and maybe even his darkest, dirtiest thoughts. I let our arms touch more than necessary, as thrilled by the physical contact as I was by the thought of what it might be doing to him.
For there is no man who does not sin.
My dick started to get hard, clearly unbothered by the whiskey that was breaking down my inhibitions, pushing past all my defenses, and letting my imagination run wild.
What’s in that gorgeous head of yours, Maxim? What’s behind those cobalt eyes? What would you do to me, if I let you? What would you let me do to you?
“Carolyn is so nice,” he said, handing me the last serving dish left to be dried.
What? He was thinking about Carolyn right now? He wasn’t supposed to be thinking about Carolyn—I was, goddammit!
But I wasn’t. “Yeah.”
He turned off the water. Rested his wet hands on the edge of the sink. “I didn’t realize you had a girlfriend.”
And I heard it in his voice—the slightest edge of jealousy, so faint I might never have noticed it had I not been so hyperaware of everything about him right now. I fucking loved it.
“She’s not my girlfriend.”
“Oh.” Now there was confusion. “I guess I misunderstood.”
“She wants to be my girlfriend.”
Silence.
Of course there was silence. Maxim would never ask what the problem was. But I wanted to tell him. I wanted him to know. I wanted to share the impossible longing I felt with one person who might understand it.
“The problem is me.”
He was completely still. Before I could stop myself, I covered his right hand with my left. “Sometimes I don’t know what I want.”
He yanked his hand from beneath mine and we faced each other.
For the first time tonight, I looked him right in the eye. Nothing around us existed for me anymore. I heard only his breath. Smelled only his skin. Saw only his guarded expression.
I had to have him.

I wanted to love this book, I really did. There's were things and characters I loved and there were others I did not. It kind of comes out as an equal balance, so I'm giving it a 3.5*

Loved:
Maxim. His outlook in general. He gets a bag stolen in a foreign country and doesn't even freak out. I would have been out of my mind nervous!!

His Russian superstitions. Well, Russian superstitions in general, not just his.
"I put my shirt on inside out, you must punch me so I don't get beaten by someone else" What??!! LOL!!

His cooking. I want those breakfast pancake things, they sound out of this world!! I can't say I've ever had anything Russian before.

The fact that I am learning about the culture.
This is sort of autobiographical to David, and that's what makes it unique and special.
I really hope David writes on his own one day :)

The sex scenes. They we're pretty steamy.
"Derek, turn around"
hooo boyyy! Loved that scene!

Ellen (Derek's sister), she's so free spirited and happy and you can't NOT love her

Age Gap. I really love me some gaps

Bossy Derek

Lainey and Gage's bet.

The Q & A at the end. I want pizza now lol

Didn't Love

Derek: I get you're in the closet and you want to make absolute sure about switching teams. Fighting something your whole life because that's how you were raised, I get it, I do. But to bring the girl you're dating and experimenting with to Maxim's place of employment is just wrong and hurtful....not only to Maxim, but to Carolyn. It wasn't fair to either of them and super selfish on Derek's part. I don't think I would have forgiven as easily as Maxim did.

Maxim when he let Derek step all over him.
Yes, he's helping you out in an awful situation, but he shouldn't be able to run over your feelings so easily. I was so happy when he decided to fight for himself.

I didn't dislike the "inst-love" but I wasn't "wow'd" by it either. It wasn't done badly, but I sometimes have a hard time wrapping my head about days and weeks. Especially when Derek was so push and pull all the time, I wasn't really feeling it.
That being said, I thought it was a good collaboration and I really would love to see more of David in the future!! ((Melanie will be sticking around, if you haven't read her het books, give em a chance, if you're into that kind of stuff ;) ))

Maxium is a young Russian man chasing after the American dream. Unfortunately, he got a rough start to that dream. His phone is dead, his ride from the airport is a no show he decides to catch a cab and find him something to eat and a place to stay. Of course things get even worse when his bag carrying everything he has is stolen.  He manages to befriend the owner of the bar, and she gives him a helping hand by calling her brother for a favor.

Derek is a man, who on paper, has his life together. He is looking for that perfect woman to make his life complete. After a phone call from his little sister asking him to help out a man down on his luck, he has feelings that stir that he thought he had buried long ago.

I really liked Maxium, he was so willing to do anything to get his slice of the American Pie, even after all the crap, he was a constant optimist. So incredibly grateful for everything that Derek had done for him.

Derek, well i felt like he was judging me from the start with all the perfectly clean home and car. Pft..what kind life is that when you can't eat in your car!!! I really didn't have a connection with him. There were moments when i did feel bad for him. But I gotta say there were more that he just kinda ticked me off. But i will say that in the end, he somewhat redeemed himself .

I will say these two did steam up the ole Kindle once they got together!!

I didn’t love this book, nor did I hate it. It was kinda middle ground for me. It took me longer than I thought to read it because it just didnt pull me in and keep me hooked, and I just cant put my finger on it as to why. Maybe it was Derek and his judginess...lol.

I give this book 3.5 steamy stars
